Do you think that they have committed to this as their future alternative fuel? They were the first to take diesel to Le mans with their LMP R10 and were undefeated. Next year they will be campaigning a bio-diesel R10.
Thye will also be the first to take diesel to the exotic car and the luxury sedan markets (BMW tried it several years ago with a 7 series and failed miserably). The biggest difference is that Audi has established performance thresholds never seen in European diesel and the ability to develop emissions friendly Blutec diesel technology in conjunction with Daimler Benz... the results are 740 ft-lbs of torque and over 500 hp in their street version V12 turbo-diesel.
