wendelin-wiedeking.jpgThese days, the entire automotive world seems like one big tag sale. There doesn’t appear to be a single company in the industry who isn’t for sale, interested in buying, or somehow or another expanding or contracting.

Volkswagen AG is no exception, naturally, as the German automaker has seen some of its shares purchased by sportscar maker Porsche, leading to rumors that it might sell Lamborghini and/or Bugatti, possibly even shuttering the latter altogether.

Well, those rumors have been lent some flesh by UK publication Autocar, which asked Porsche head (and VW board member) Wendelin Wiedeking about the future of the two brands. His response included the phrase: “No toys anymore,” which the magazine believes is a thinly-disguised way of saying that VW isn’t averse to divesting the pair of plutocratic marques in the interest of simplification and restructuring.
